Du Maurier, Daphne - Lot of 'The Rebecca Notebook' (plus 16 B&W photos from the movie)
Lot of the book 'The Rebecca Notebook' (First edition, Gollancz 1981) and 16 Black & White Movie Stills (Hollywood 1940).
'Rebecca' is a famous Gothic novel from Daphne Du Maurier and Hitchcock adapted the story into a very successful movie.
This lot is for real fans: 'The Rebecca Notebook' in a near fine first edition together with 16 Black & White Selznick International Movie Photos which are most likely contemparaneous with the movie's release.
In the book Daphne du Maurier reveals how 'Rebecca' came to be written: its origins, its development, and the directions its plot might have taken. The original outline of the novel is here, as well as the original Epilogue. Daphne du Maurier also reveals how she first came upon Menabilly, the secret house hidden away in Cornish woodland, that was to become the romantic setting of Rebecca: a house which stood derelict, and which she lovingly restored. (goodreads)
The 16 photographs are uncaptioned, though with white id# in the plate. No photographer imprint. Most likely these photos are contemporaneous with the movie's release but there's no clear proof for it. The photos have faint yellowing at extremities and a slight curling. The images are clear and sharp.
The book is near fine with a small former owner inscription on ffep.and few signs of wear to the dust jacket.
