Greene, Graham - 'The Third Man and The Fallen Idol' (First UK edition 1950)
First UK edition. Heinemann, London 1950.
"This volume contains the original version of 'The Third Man'. The text has been set from Graham Greene's original manuscript, which is the only one in existence. There was never more than one other copy of it, and many cuts were made in this latter, with a view to its submission to the International Authorities in Vienna, from whom permission to shoot the film in Vienna had to be obtained.
It may therefore be claimed that here is 'The Third Man' as first conceived in Graham Greene's mind and set down in manuscript by him as the 'film treatment' upon which the film was based and built" (from the front flap of the dust jacket)
Book has black cloth boards with silver lettering to the spine. Book condition is near fine with miniscule signs of use.
The pictorial dust jacket is in very good+ condition, unclipped and with light edgewear and miniscule rubbing. There are three small closed tears which are professional repaired with archival tape on the reverse of the jacket. The dust jacket is now protected by transparent archival sleeve.
