Content:

In January 1989, a seven-year-old girl is kidnapped in Tokyo. For five long days, the desperate parents try everything to fulfil the kidnapper's demands. But all their efforts are in vain. The kidnapper escapes unrecognised with the ransom money, and shortly afterwards the girl's body is found. The police investigation comes to nothing. The case goes down in Japan's criminal history as an unsolved drama under file number 64. Fourteen years later, the daughter of Yoshinobu Mikami, the press officer of a small police station, disappears. Shortly afterwards, Mikami, himself a prisoner of an overpowering administrative apparatus, comes across a secret memo on Case 64. Driven by a dark premonition, he begins to investigate on his own - and opens a door that would have been better left closed forever.

Book condition is as new and unread. Vertical wraparound band has one miniscule tear at the bottom edge.
